Hanno anche aggiunto il quarterback veterano Sam Darnold in questa bassa stagione. Lo hanno firmato il 16 marzo, per un contratto di un anno, unendosi a Lance e Purdy nella stanza QB. Con la firma di Allen, i 49ers ora hanno quattro QB nel loro roster attivo.

Il GM dei 49ers John Lynch ha anche detto all’inizio della bassa stagione all’incontro annuale dei proprietari che Purdy si è guadagnato il diritto di essere il titolare.
